Glamping on the Oregon Trail
Glamping on the Oregon Trail (10 days, 9 nights)
This east-to-west meander harkens back to yesteryear; a sojourn for jaded travelers who yearn for a simpler life. Come! Amble over the prairie, cross the high plains desert, to the Pacificâs great and wild shores. Guests enjoy the utmost pampering throughout this journey, with a personal concierge assigned to each Class A motorhome in our âwagon trainâ.
Independence, Missouri to Willamette Valley, Oregon. 2,170 miles, not available in reverse. Double occupancy, terms and conditions apply.
Day 1: Independence, Missouri
Our journey begins in the âQueen City of the Trailsâ, where the Missouri and Kansas rivers converge. Following a champagne breakfast, our convoy heads for the frontier via Interstate 70.
Travelers must arrive one day before departure; bookings at the upscale Holiday Inn Express arranged on request. Departure time may vary based on traffic conditions in Kansas City.
Day 2: Fort Kearny, Nebraska
Spend your first night in âIndian Countryâ! Weâll circle the buses and gather by the campfire, as a troupe of historical re-enactors regale us with stories of life on the Grand Old Prairie.
Luxury accommodations at the Fort Kearny KOA include full hookups and utilities; please bring an adequate supply of quarters for the communal showers.
Days 3-4: Fort Laramie, Wyoming
After a leisurely trek through the Centennial State, an experienced guide will host an authentic pioneer hunt! Select your trophy: rabbit, deer, bear⌠or will you try to bring down a bison?
While there is no bag limit on this excursion, a take limit of 100 pounds is strictly enforced to conserve diesel fuel. Thanks for doing your part to preserve our environment!
Day 5: Boise, Idaho
Founded as a secure respite from the perilous high desert, the beautiful âTreasure Valleyâ continues to accommodate weary travelers at luxury spa resorts. Disembark, and allow an expert masseuseâs skilled hands to soothe away the aches and pains of the trail.
Regrettably, due to an indiscretion on a previous expedition, couples massages are no longer offered. Our apologies for any inconvenience!
Days 6-7: Denver, Colorado -or- Salt Lake City, Utah
At the midway point in our journey, guests can blaze a new trail by âchoosing their own adventureâ from these bespoke tours:
Option A: Those drawn to nightlife will traverse the Continental Divide and spend an unforgettable evening in the Mile High City. Dress to impress for a true âDonner Partyââ what happens in Denver, stays in Denver!
Option B: For the teetotalers among us, head south to pursue wholesome activities on the historic Mormon Trail! Thrilling ski slopes, amazing hiking, and religious pilgrimages are all on offer in the Beehive State. Truly, âthis is the placeâ for sober, decaffeinated excitement!
Days 8-9: Snake River, Oregon
When the ribbons of blacktop become tiresome, weâll pause to follow in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark with an epic Snake River rafting trip! This death-defying adventure is fun for the entire family, with countless photo opportunities!
Catered gourmet lunch included; alcohol and gratuities extra. Travelers please note, this excursion requires a signed waiver of liability.
Day 10: Willamette Valley, Oregon
Enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Hood before our trail ends at one of the worldâs most unique cities, which even today still draws diverse souls from around the globe. Transfer to Portland International Airport (PDX) included; a selection of eclectic day trips can be added upon request.
Owing to Portlandâs unique âcultural sensitivitiesâ, travelers are encouraged to avail themselves of a local guide. Recommendations are, of course, provided.
